Angle steel
Angle joints, also known as angle steel, are long steel strips with two perpendicular sides forming an angle. They are divided into equal-leg angles and unequal-leg angles. Equal-leg angles have two sides of equal width. Specifications are expressed in millimeters: side width × side width × side thickness.
Angles are primarily categorized as equal-leg angles and unequal-leg angles. Unequal-leg angles can be further divided into unequal-leg equal-thickness and unequal-leg unequal-thickness.
Angle steel specifications are expressed by side length and thickness. Domestic angle steel sizes range from 2 to 20, with the number being based on the length in centimeters. The same size often has two to seven different side thicknesses. Imported angle steel is marked with the actual dimensions and thickness of both sides, along with the relevant standards. Generally, angles with side lengths of 12.5 cm or more are considered large, those between 12.5 cm and 5 cm are medium, and those under 5 cm are small. Import and export angle steel orders are generally based on the specifications required for use, and the steel grade is the corresponding carbon steel grade. Angle steel also has no specific composition or performance series other than the specification number.
Angle steel delivery lengths are either fixed length or multiple lengths. Domestic angle steel fixed lengths range from 3-9m, 4-12m, 4-19m, and 6-19m, depending on the specification number. Japanese angle steel lengths range from 6-15m.
The cross-sectional height of unequal-leg angle steel is calculated based on the length and width of the unequal-leg angle steel. This refers to steel with an angular cross-section and unequal sides. This is a type of angle steel. Its side lengths range from 25mm x 16mm to 200mm x 125mm. It is produced by hot rolling. Typical unequal-leg angle steel specifications are: ∟50*32mm to ∟200*125mm, with a thickness of 4-18mm. Angle steel can be used to form various load-bearing components depending on the structure, and can also serve as connectors between components. It is widely used in various building and engineering structures, such as beams, bridges, transmission towers, lifting and transportation machinery, ships, industrial furnaces, reaction towers, container racks, cable trench supports, power piping, busbar support installation, and warehouse shelving. Angle steel is a carbon structural steel used in construction. It is a simple cross-section steel section, mainly used in metal components and factory frames. In use, it requires good weldability, plastic deformation resistance, and a certain mechanical strength. The raw material billet for angle steel production is low-carbon square steel billet, and the finished angle steel is delivered in a hot-rolled, normalized, or hot-rolled state.
